COVID-19

COVID-19 Notice

Millenium 2000 Painting and Decorating Ltd is committed to the health and safety of its employees and in keeping up with the COVID-19 pandemic, we are following all the Health Officials’ recommendations as well as Worksafe BC, BC Construction Safety Alliance and specific jobsite’s guidelines.

As the employer, we will on a daily basis:

Assess whether workers should be at work
  • Prioritize the work that needs to take place at the workplace to help us operate as close to normal under the circumstances.
  • Ensure that the following workers do not come to work:
    • Anyone with COVID-19-like symptoms such as sore throat, fever, sneezing, or coughing must self-isolate at home for 10 days.
    • Workers who have travelled internationally. In these cases, they must remain away from the workplace for at least 14 days.
    • Workers who have travelled internationally. In these cases, they must remain away from the workplace for at least 14 days.
    • Workers who share a residence with a person who has been exposed to COVID-19.

Workers who have been exposed to any confirmed to have COVID-19, or to anyone with possible symptoms of COVID-19, should call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 for an assessment and to determine any necessary next steps.

Put social and physical distancing and other preventative measures in place

If it is necessary for workers to come to work, we will take steps to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

  • If practicable, reconfiguring the workplace to maintain appropriate distance between workers.
  • Limiting worker participation in in-person gatherings and encouraging practices like teleconferences as an alternative.
  • Limiting worker travel.
  • Additional measures will depend on the workplace, but would generally include:
    • Educating workers on health and safety measures to prevent transmission of infectious diseases.
    • Increase workplace cleaning, provide the necessary supplies, and reinforce personal hygiene messages to workers.
  • What workers should do
    • Workers should know and understand their workplace health and safety responsibilities – and those of others. If you’re a worker, you also have three key rights: the right to know about hazards in the workplace; the right to participate in health and safety activities in the workplace; and the right to refuse unsafe work.
Know when not to come to work

The following workers must not go to work:

  • Anyone with COVID-19-like symptoms such as sore throat, fever, sneezing, or coughing must self-isolate at home for 10 days.
  • Workers who have travelled internationally. In these cases, they must remain away from the workplace for at least 14 days.
  • They share a residence with a person that has been exposed to COVID-19.

Workers who have been exposed to anyone confirmed to have COVID-19, or to anyone with possible symptoms of COVID-19, should call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 for an assessment and to determine any necessary next steps.

Take other preventative measures while at work

If entering the workplace, workers should:

  • Comply with the employer’s instructions around minimizing exposure to COVID-19.
  • Wear a non-medical face mask at all times
  • Wash their hands frequently, and/or use hand sanitizer.
  • Take steps to minimize exposure to COVID-19 while away from work.
Right to refuse work

Workers in B.C. have the right to refuse work if they believe it presents an undue hazard.

An undue hazard is an “unwarranted, inappropriate, excessive, or disproportionate” risk, above and beyond the potential exposure a general member of the public would face through regular, day-to-day activity.

In these circumstances, the worker would begin by reporting the undue hazard to their employer for investigation and the employers would then need to consider the refusal on a case-by-case basis, depending on the situation.

We will make sure that all of our employees are kept up to date on these measures and together will work in keeping us all safe and healthy.
